ABOUT THE COMPETITION

Welcome to the Scottish Sea Farms Unsigned Oban Live competition

Oban Live is back this year searching for talented unsigned superstars to add to our official OBAN LIVE 2019 line-up! And this year the competition is looking even hotter……

We’ve teamed up with Scottish Sea Farms to offer TWO bands, solo artistes or duos the chance to win a slot at this year’s Oban Live, joining a whole stream of international acts including Skerryvore, We Banjo 3, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Lucy Spraggan and more. This year we are looking for one act from the local area (Oban and nearby) PLUS one act from Scotland, outwith the area of Oban.

Oban Live makes the perfect stage to showcase your talents to our energetic audience who come from all over Scotland, the UK and the world to enjoy a whole host of music. And it’s not just at the main event. Each winner also gets a slot at the Official After Party at The View, Oban too. Each winning act will also receive £300 to put towards costs. Shortlisted artistes and the overall winners can also enjoy the attention as we shout about the campaign across our social platforms and beyond. Those shortlisted in the local category will also battle it out at The View’, Oban’s Shortlist night in April as part of their campaign for votes.

How it works:

  • Artistes are invited to apply online for the competition and applications must be received by 12pm, Monday 18th March, 2019.
  • A judging process will take place thereafter to select a shortlist for each category. Judging panel will be announced in due course.
  • The shortlists are then announced and it will be up to the public to vote for their favourite to win!
  • Those shortlisted in the local category will also get the chance to perform at The View, Oban at a special shortlist evening in April as part of their campaign for votes.

Terms and conditions:

OBAN CATEGORY: Artists applying to Oban Live Unsigned (local category) must currently live in Oban or the nearby surrounding area. For bands and duos, at least one member of the band will currently live in Oban or the nearby surrounding area. Successful applicants shortlisted in the local category will be invited to perform at The View shortlist evening in April. Date will be confirmed nearer the time.

SCOTLAND WIDE CATEGORY: Artistes applying to Oban Live Unsigned (Scotland wide category) must live in Scotland and not live in Oban or the nearby surrounding area. For bands and duos, at least one member of the band must currently live in Scotland.

Should your duo or band live in multiple areas across Scotland with at least one including the Oban area, you will be placed in the Oban local category.

The prize for each category winner is a minimum 15 minute performance slot and added artist name to the Oban Live line-up on either June 7 or June 8, 2019 as well as a slot at the Official Oban Live After Party at The View, Oban on June 7 or 8, 2019. Each winning act will also receive £300 to put towards costs.

Applicants may include both original material and covers in their applications and the winner may include covers on-stage during their slot at Oban Live and the Oban Live After Party. By applying to Oban Unsigned, entrants agree to give Oban Live the right to use the music materials and any footage they have submitted as part of their application for campaign promotions on websites, on social media, and in print as well as for PR. Under-18s must have permission from a parent or guardian to take part and, if the winner is under 18, an adult must accompany them to the live show. For shortlisted acts in the local category aged under 18, they must also be accompanied by an adult to the local shortlist night at The View in April. The judges’ decision is final. The winning act must have enough material for a 30 minute performance and must be available on June 7 & June 8. Performance time and duration will be confirmed with the winning act. The winning act must take part in publicity. Closing date for applications is 12pm, Monday 18th March.
